Mirage Magazine
about the project
Mirage Magazine is a fictitious photography magazine where I was to choose a famous photographer to feature. I chose Alexandra Uzik, a surf photographer originally from Slovakia. Her work has been in various exhibits in New York and Slovakia and has been published by Red Bull, The Ocean is Female, Boardlife, and other related presses. I wanted the magazine to have a clean, fresh, modern feeling; which I created with white space and partial bleeds of large images.
For the typographic logo of the magazine, I chose a slab sans-serif with a unique personality that would bleed into the cover image, while the season and date are listed vertically along the side of the "M". The main feature article title uses the same font as the magazine's logo, while other fonts are used for all other articles.
I was asked to include an advertisement for a camera or camera equipment. To go along with the surf photography theme, I chose a camera housing used for underwater photography.
